YOUR PRIVACY MATTERS. This Privacy Policy explains how Sitwego Ltd collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our apps, websites, features, and other services. By using Sitwego you consent to the practices described in this policy.

1. The Scope of This Policy

This document governs all Sitwego users, encompassing Riders and Drivers, and applies across all Sitwego platforms and services, including our apps, websites, features, and other services.

By accessing or using any part of the Sitwego platform you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide to Us

Account Registration: When you create a Sitwego account we collect your name, email address, phone number, payment details, profile photo, saved addresses, and any other information you choose to provide.

Driver Application Data: Drivers are required to submit government-issued ID numbers, driver’s licence details, vehicle information, insurance documentation, bank account numbers, and tax information for verification and payment purposes.

SOS Emergency Contacts: We request contact list permission solely to allow you to add emergency SOS contacts within the Rider and Driver apps. We do not store or access your contact list for any other purpose.

Ratings and Support Communications: We collect feedback you submit through ratings and any messages you send when contacting our support team.

B. Information Collected Automatically

Location Data:

  • Riders: We collect precise location when you open and use the Sitwego app, including while the app is running in the background during an active trip.
  • Drivers: We collect background location while you are in driver mode and may use location data for post-trip incident detection and safety features.

Usage Information: Ride dates, times, routes, distances, fares paid, and patterns of interaction with the app.

Device Information: Device identifiers, advertising IDs, operating system version, and push notification tokens.

Communications Metadata: Call and text metadata facilitated through our third-party communication services (e.g., masked phone numbers between Riders and Drivers).

Cookies and Tracking Technologies: Small text files placed on your device by our web services are used for analytics, session management, and personalisation. You may manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

C. Information from Third-Party Sources

  • Background check providers used during Driver onboarding.
  • Insurance and financial service partners.
  • Data from referral programmes where a third party refers you to Sitwego.
  • Law enforcement agencies or incident report systems where legally required.

3. How We Use Your Information

Sitwego uses the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Sitwego platform and its features.
  • Match Riders with available Drivers and facilitate trip completion.
  • Maintain the security and safety of the Sitwego platform and its users.
  • Process payments and prevent fraudulent transactions.
  • Communicate with you about your account, trips, and platform updates.
  • Build community features and provide personalised in-app experiences.
  • Provide customer support and resolve disputes.
  • Conduct research and analytics to improve our services.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations and regulatory requirements.

4. How We Share Your Information

Between Users

  • Riders receive the Driver’s name, photo, star rating, real-time location, and vehicle details during an active booking.
  • Drivers receive the Rider’s pickup location, first name, profile photo, and destination upon trip acceptance.
  • In shared-ride scenarios, co-passengers may see each other’s first names and route information.

With Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate the platform, including payment processors, background check providers, cloud infrastructure providers, fraud detection services, and marketing analytics tools. These parties are contractually bound to use your data only as directed by Sitwego.

For Legal Compliance

We may disclose your information in response to valid law enforcement requests, court orders, subpoenas, or government investigations, and where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sitwego, our users, or the public.

Corporate Transactions

In the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of all or part of our assets, your personal information may be transferred to the successor entity. We will notify you of any such change and any new privacy choices that may apply.

5. Data Retention and Protection

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide you and our other users the Sitwego platform and related services. Transactional records (trip history, payment records) are retained for a minimum of seven (7) years to meet tax and regulatory obligations.

Sitwego implements reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 6 below). Certain data may be retained after deletion where required by law, for fraud prevention, or where an open legal or safety matter exists.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • Marketing Emails / SMS: You may unsubscribe from promotional communications at any time via the link in any marketing email or by contacting support. Transactional and safety messages will continue.
  • Push Notifications: You may opt out of push notifications through your device settings at any time.
  • Profile Access & Correction: You may review and update your account information at any time through the app’s settings.
  • Location Data: You may disable location permissions through your device settings; doing so may limit platform functionality (e.g., automatic address detection, ride matching).
  • Account Deletion: You may request account deletion through the app or by contacting support. Deletions may be delayed or restricted where fraud, safety concerns, or open legal matters exist.
  • Data Access Requests: You may request a summary of the categories of personal data we hold about you, the sources from which it was collected, and the business purposes for its use.
  • Deletion Requests: You may request erasure of your personal data, subject to exceptions for transactions, legal compliance, security, research, or ongoing service provision.

7. Children's Privacy

Sitwego is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at support@sitwego.com and we will take steps to remove that information promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or platform features. When we make material changes we will notify you via the app or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
